Indians Split Doubleheader with Tigers on Saturday, Three Takeaways from Game 2

1.) Indians Prevent Doubleheader Sweep

Things seemed to repeat themselves and falling in favor of the Tigers early. Jordan Zimmermann held the Indians hitless through 3 innings and didn’t allow his first hit until the 4th inning.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the second inning when Mikie Mahtook hit an RBI single to drive in Nick Castellanos. The Indians eventually did get on the board when the 6th inning came around.

In the 6th inning, the Indians scored 4 runs. Michael Brantley got things started when he grounded out to second but drove in Roberto Perez. Edwin Encarnacion followed with a bloop single over Cabrera’s head and into shallow left field which drove in Jason Kipnis.

Jose Ramirez kept the scoring trend going when he hit a 2-run home run to right field and extended the Indians lead to 4-1.

Following the Indians four-run sixth inning, both teams did not score for the rest of the ballgame.
