The Cleveland Indians had a disappointing finish to their 2017 season, falling to the New York Yankees in five games in the ALDS. That doesn’t take anything away from the great regular season they had.
Today, Sporting News announced their AL and NL Manager of the Year and Tribe skipper, Terry Francona, was named the AL Manager of the Year by a panel headed by nineteen managers. This is the second straight year Francona has won the award and he was certainly deserving of the award.
Francona led the Tribe to an American League-best 102 wins on the year, including an American League record twenty-two wins in a row. Francona has had a lot of success since arriving in Cleveland and there’s still plenty to come.
