The Indians critical homestand which includes the first place Twins and Yankees got off to a good start, as Tuesday night the Tribe used four homers to top the Twins 5-2.
Wednesday was another day, as the team announced mid-afternoon that starter Carlos Carrasco is leaving the team to explore treatment and recovery options for a blood condition.
With that, the Indians Wednesday will go with what’s known as a ‘bullpen game’ where the team will try to piece together a game using all relief pitchers.
Tyler Clippard will get the start for the Indians, and with Jon Edwards and Nick Goody being called up from AAA Columbus, one would think they would see time in tonight’s affair.
On the field Tuesday’s win puts the team at 10.5 games out in the Central, and they have a pair left with the Twins before they get ready for the chaos of the Yankees and their fan base over the weekend.
The Indians tonight will go up against Twins starter Martin Perez, who is an impressive 7-2 with a 3.71 ERA.
The Indians have had success against Martin, winning two of three outings against him, and his ERA against the Indians is 9.13 in six games, four of which were starts.
Here’s tonight’s lineup for the Indians:
SS Francisco Lindor
CF Oscar Mercado
1B Carlos Santana
RF Jordan Luplow
3B Jose Ramirez
2B Jason Kipnis
C Roberto Perez
LF Jake Bauers
DH Tyler Naquin
