Indians Send Austin Adams to AAA Columbus; Recall Lefty Relief Pitcher Shawn Armstrong

CLEVELAND – After another rough inning in the ninth last night in which he allowed a two-run homer to the Twins Eduardo Escobar, today Austin Adams was shipped down to AAA Columbus.

The team recalled lefty relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong from Columbus to take Adams’ place on the roster.

He has not allowed a run over his last 12 appearances since July 3 (12.1IP, 7H, 17K) and for the year at AAA is averaging 13.50 strikeouts per 9.0IP.

The 2016 Triple-A All-Star was with Cleveland on May 31 and appeared in one Major League game during his first stint with Cleveland in 2016.

Adams in 15 games carried a 7.04 ERA, allowing 12 runs and 18 hits in 15.1 innings pitched.
