CLEVELAND – The Indians pitching rotation has been tweaked with the latest injury to starter Carlos Carrasco, who was pulled after just 3.2 innings in last night’s 8-7 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Manager Terry Francona stated on Tuesday that Carrasco will pushed back for two days, meaning that his next start won’t come until Tuesday when the Indians wrap up a series in Cincinnati with the Reds.
“The idea is to give him two days to let him be in the training room,” Francona said of Carrasco. “And then he will start his five days cycle up to pitching, which puts him the second day in Cincinnati.”
So now with Carrasco getting pushed back, the rotation for the next week goes as follows:
Tuesday vs Rays – Danny Salazar
Wednesday vs Rays – Josh Tomlin
Thursday – OFF DAY
Friday at Houston – Trevor Bauer
Saturday at Houston – Mike Clevinger
Sunday at Houston – Danny Salazar
Monday at Cincinnati – Josh Tomlin
Tuesday at Cincinnati – Carlos Carrasco
Francona added that Mike Clevinger will be put in the pen for tonight’s game, just in case the team may need him or the game goes into extra frames.
Clevinger is set to pitch on Saturday against the Astros in Houston.
