It’s been a hot button topic among Indians fans and people in Northeast Ohio for years, that being the teams use of their Chief Wahoo logo that has been in place for decades for the franchise.
For those that have been asking the Indians to go away from the Chief for what they feel are demeaning reasons are about to get their wish, as the team has ‘officially’ gone to the ‘Block C’ as their primary logo moving forward.
“We have gone to the Block C as our primary mark,” Tribe owner Paul Dolan said on Friday in the Plain Dealer. “Clearly, we are using it more heavily than we are the Chief Wahoo logo.”
While they will go away from using the Chief, Dolan said it will still be a part of the team, and the franchise has no plans on getting rid of it all together.
“(We have) no plans to get rid of Chief Wahoo,” Dolan said. “it is part of our history and legacy. We do have empathy for those who take issue with it. We have minimized the use of it and we’ll continue to do what we think is appropriate.”
With the announcement going official, Twitter has been abuzz today with interesting reaction about the move:
Chief Wahoo just unfollowed the @Indians on Twitter.

I'm Native American and I don't care if the Cleveland Indians use Chief Wahoo as their logo people get too offended these days.

Instead of the Block C as the main logo, can the Indians please go back to the 1970s Crooked C? The Block C is awful.
