Indians fans have been waiting for anything as far as an update on outfielder Michael Brantley and his progress to returning, and today finally some news came out regarding his hopeful return to playing in games.
For now, Brantley is going to be sitting out early spring training games according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, but after playing in just 11 Major League games in 2016 he’s still eyeing a return to the big league roster for Opening Day.
Nick Camino of WTAM tweeted out more of the same about Brantley from today’s chat with manager Terry Francona.
Terry Francona said LF Michael Brantley is progressing well, but will not be ready by the Cactus League exhibition opener.

Fans shouldn’t get too upset about the latest Brantley reports, as it still appears he’s ahead of his rehab work, and this latest could mean the team just does not want to push him too much into rushing back.
Look for Brantley to continue his recovery, and for him to eventually play in the spring as long as things go on its current course with the outfielder.
