The Indians continue to sit and wait on the long term injury plan for pitcher Trevor Bauer, as today manager Terry Francona said that there’s no announced timetable for his return to mound.
Bauer was placed on the 10-day DL on Tuesday, but it’s sounding like he’s going to miss a lot more than 10 days, as according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Francona said today that he’s “hopeful Bauer will return this season.”
It’s been a huge All-Star season for Bauer, who is 12-6 with a 2.22 ERA (166.0IP, 125H, 49R, 41ER, 8HR, 56BB) in 25 starts, with a career-high 214 strikeouts.
The injury to Bauer too place on Saturday in Chicago, when a batted ball from José Abreu hit off his leg, causing what Francona said is a “small stress fracture” in his right fibula.
Bastian said via Twitter that the team will likely have more info on Friday when the Indians are back at home to take on the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game set.
Adam Plutko will pitch in Bauer’s place on Saturday.
