2.) Trevor Bauer and Indians defense
Trevor Bauer made his first start in Toronto since the bloody finger he experienced in the ALCS. Bauer had a rough time with the Blue Jays line up early, especially in the 2nd and 3rd innings.
Bauer gave up a Ryan Goins homer in the second inning which gave the Blue Jays an early 2-0 lead. In the third inning, the Blue Jays scored two more runs when Justin Smoak hit a 2-run single and was thrown out advancing to second base.
In the 4th inning, the Indians were experiencing defensive woes also. Goins grounded into an inning-ending double play to Bauer but as Francisco Lindor was making the transfer he lost the ball and only got Darwin Barney out at second.
The next batter was Luke Maile and he hit a line drive to Abraham Almonte but the ball hit the webbing of Almonte’s glove and popped out of his glove. Thankfully though Bauer got out of the inning.
Bauer went 6 innings, gave up 6 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Bauer threw 125 pitches which is a career high for him.
