CLEVELAND – The Indians offense is slowly coming alive, as last night Carlos Santana hit his first home run since returning to the Indians.
Santana’s dramatic walk-off home run to left field helped the Indians win it in the ninth, as they topped the Jays 3-2 at Progressive Field to move to 4-3.
The Tribe has won the first two of the four-game set, and are now 3-1 at home this season. The Blue Jays are struggling, as would be expected in a complete rebuild, as they are 3-6 on the season and have lost their last two games.
The Indians came into the season limping missing key players and acquisitions that needed more playing time in the minors.
Jason Kipnis is rehabbing, and Francisco Lindor has done some light baseball activity. Newly acquired Carlos Gonzalez is continuing to try to play catch up and hopefully be with the major league club before his April 20th deadline.
All that and the Indians find themselves above .500 after seven games into the 2019 season.
The biggest key tonight’s game will be starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Cookie lost his first on the season in Minnesota.
He went only 4.1 innings pitched. He surrendered 6 runs on 10 hits. It’s only one start and no reason to panic. Carrasco will look to turn it around against the Blue Jays.
