AKRON, Ohio – Cleveland Indians star prospect Francisco Mejia was pulled from Saturday’s game early, due to a right hip strain. Mejia has been the subject of trade rumors in each of the last two seasons.
There was mild panic during the second inning of Saturday night’s home game against the visiting Richmond Flying Squirrels when he was pulled from the game.
He started the night at DH and was off to a great start, plating an RBI double in the top of the first and then came around to score shortly after on Bobby Bradley fielder’s choice RBI.
Early word reached the press box, relaying Mejia was not pulled for a trade, but a right hip strain. It does not appear to be serious and fans who were worried about a trade can take a deep breath. Mejia is considered day-to-day.
From @AkronRubberDuck clubhouse, Francisco Mejia left the game due to right hip strain. Doubled home a run his only AB. Will be day-to-day.

Cleveland.com Indians beat writer Zack Meisel reported from Progressive Field he would be shocked if the club trades its No. 1 prospect.
By the way, from the impression I've gotten — I'd be quite surprised (shocked, even) if Indians made a trade that included Francisco Mejia.
