The Cleveland Indians are kicking off their Saturday in style. On the day before Yonder Alonso’s 31st birthday, the club surprised the first baseman with a very original idea.
That idea? Bringing in a full-fledged mariachi band to sing “Happy Birthday!” to the slugger. And yes, the pictures do make this worthwhile.

Alonso is standing in the center of the room, dancing a little. His teammates are circled around, taking video and laughing their asses off.

A mariachi band just came into the Indians clubhouse playing for Yonder Alonso to celebrate his birthday tokorrow. All the players gathered around the locker room. Plenty of smiles.

Through seven games, Alonso has batted .192 with two home runs and five runs batted in for the Tribe. Perhaps the birthday celebration can help give some good luck to Cleveland’s new big bat like a scene out of “Major League”.
