2. Another day, another Jose Ramirez homer
Jose Ramirez homered in his third straight game in the fifth inning, tying the longest home run streak of his career.
With two outs in the frame, Ramirez sent a 1-1 four-seamer from Luis Severino over the right field wall, tying the game at four.
It was the 28th home run Ramirez has hit so far this season. That’s the most home runs any Cleveland Indian has hit in the first half of a season in franchise history, breaking a tie with Albert Belle, who hit 27 in 1996. That’s to say nothing of the fact that Ramirez still has three more games to add to his total.
To put Ramirez’s first half performance into even more perspective, in all of 2017 he hit 29 long balls. It’s safe to say that a new career-high will likely be set before next week’s All-Star Game.
