3.) Keep on Rolling
With the Indians striking first in the first inning and coming out of the game victorious the team improves to 62-19 when scoring first. With the win, the Indians also extend their win streak to 13 consecutive victories and are one victory away from tying their longest win streak in history (set in 2016).
In tonight’s game, starting pitching did not flourish like it has during the win streak but the bullpen came out and saved the day.
This year marks the first time for the Cleveland Indians to have multiple win streaks of at least 9 games or more since 1954. During the 1954 season, the Indians had a pair of 11-game win streaks and a pair of 9-game win streaks.
The Indians are also the first team to have multiple winning streaks of 12+ games in back-to-back seasons since the San Francisco Giants accomplished this in 1965/1966. Cleveland is the first American League to do this since the New York Yankees in 1960/1961.
The Indians will be sending Carlos Carrasco to the hill and will be opposed by Reynaldo Lopez. First pitch is expected to be at 8:10 PM EST.
