1.) Danny Salazar Extremely Short Outing
For the 13th consecutive game, the Indians scored first against their opponent. In the first inning, the Indians sent up 9 batters to the plate and managed to scored 3 runs. During the White Sox half of the inning, they sent 9 batters up to the plate also.
Austin Jackson got things started in the first with a homer and Jose Ramirez followed up with a homer himself. With Ramirez’s homer in the first inning on Tuesday that makes it 4 homers in the past 3 games.
In a game in which the Indians are having Danny Salazar start this seemed like this would be a game in which the team needed to strike first since Salazar is coming off of the Disabled List.
A three run lead was not enough for Salazar before the first inning was over the Indians were trailing 4-3 and Salazar was taken out of the game after 2/3 of an inning.
Salazar was not expected to have a 6/7 inning start tonight but was expected to go at least 4/5 innings. In the first inning alone both teams needed 82 pitches combined to get out of the inning.
Salazar went 2/3 of an inning, gave up 4 earned runs, 2 walks, allowed 1 hit, and struck out 1.
David Holmberg from the White Sox also had a short start also getting pulled after 3 innings of work.
