CHICAGO– On Tuesday night the Cleveland Indians played their second game out of a four game series with the Chicago White Sox.
On Monday the Indians took game one of the series with a 5-3 victory and earned their 12th consecutive victory.
Heading into Tuesday night’s game the Indians had a 10 game lead over the Minnesota Twins and their magic number stood at 16 games. The Indians came in with a record of 81-56.
The White Sox were mathematically eliminated from contention in the division following their loss on Monday. The White Sox were 54-82 coming into tonight’s game.
The Indians have not trailed an opponent for 67 consecutive innings and scored 84 runs over the last 12 games going into Tuesday night’s game.
Following the Indians 9-4 victory, the Indians improved to 82-56 and dropped their magic number to 14 games. The White Sox fell to 54-83 on the year.
