Indians End the First Half with a ‘W’ – Top the Yankees 5-2; Three Takeaways from the Win

2. Carrasco in Relief

The Indians announced on Wednesday that starter Carlos Carrasco would shift to the bullpen if needed for the weekend series against the Yankees, and on Sunday manager Terry Francona decided he was needed.

The team went to him in the 8th inning, and he dominated the Yankees with a 1-2-3 inning with a pair of strikeouts, setting down Gio Stanton and Aaron Hicks with strikeouts.

One has to wonder how Terry Francona is going to handle the pen in the second half of the season if the team doesn’t get at least one or two quality arms.

Don’t get too excited, Carrasco is heading right back to the starting rotation, but it’s interesting to think about the options the team might have if they sprinkle some of their starters into the bullpen.
