Indians draw double digit figures in ratings for Back-To-back Games

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Last night the Cleveland Indians played their second game of the season and the Cleveland Cavaliers played and earned their 50th win of the season. Northeast Ohio spent most of their time watching either the Cavs or Indians games.

The Indians 4-3 victory over the Texas Rangers drew an 11.59 rating on SportsTime Ohio with a start time of 8:05 p.m and the game was watched in more than 171,000 homes in the Cleveland market according to CrainsCleveland.com.

The Cleveland Cavaliers tipped off an hour earlier and defeated the Orlando Magic by a score of 122-102 and drew an 8.46 rating on Fox Sports Ohio. The last hour of the Cavs game maintained a rating of 10.18 and peaked at 11.4. In that same hour, the Indians averaged a rating of 11 on the STO broadcast.

For the Indians, this meant that they had started the season with back-to-back games in double figures for the ratings department. The Indians drew a higher number than they did for the opener and that even included 20,000+ fans that left their homes went to Quicken Loans Arena to watch the Cavs play.

One game in the 2016 Indians season did better than an 11.49 and that was a July 7th game against the Yankees that brought in a rating of 13.46 and the game was simulcasted on WKYC. The top rated game that was not simulcasted last season was July 5th against the Tigers and drew a rating of 11.14 on STO.

297,000 households were either watching the Cavaliers or Indians on the first Tuesday of April.

According to Nielsen, the Cleveland-Akron-Canton market has 1,498,960 TV homes, which means that 20% of those households were watching the Cavs or Indians or even both games.
