The Cleveland Indians continued their reign of dominance over the Minnesota Twins with a strong outing by the entire team. With a 5-0 win, the Tribe now sits in first place with a two-game lead in the AL Central.
Here’s the three takeaways from the Father’s Day sweep.
1. Edwin’s Flying High- There are points in a season where you can recognize when a team, player or both has found their stride. Exhibit A was showcased at Target Field Sunday, when the Indians’ designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion ripped the cover off the ball twice. What did you expect? He had to make up for not getting a home run yesterday in the Twins’ best attempt to avoid pitching to him. Edwin has 16 home runs and 36 RBI’s. I’d say he has officially acclimated himself to the team in June, as six of his home runs are from this month.
