3. Seventh inning fun
The seventh inning was certainly the exclamation point of this Tribe win, as they put up four runs in the frame.
The first run came on a JRam RBI single. With Edwin Encarnacion up to bat, Ramirez stole second base. As Oakland catcher Jonathan Lucroy tried to throw him out, it paved the way for Francisco Lindor to steal home from third for the second run of the inning.
“He’s just a pretty special player,” Francona said of Lindor’s steal. “Because that’s not something where we just tell him you’re going. But if he reads it good enough, it’s just pretty special because that’s not as easy as he made it look.”
Encarnacion followed that up with an RBI double, and was himself plated on a sacrifice fly from Yonder Alonso, giving Cleveland their 10-4 lead.
For the game, the top half of the order (Lindor, Michael Brantley, Ramirez and Encarnacion) was phenomenal, going a combined 8-for-13 from the plate with seven RBI.
Encarnacion, Ramirez and Lindor have also combined for 175 RBI this season, and with nine games left before the All-Star break, the three have already combined for the most first-half RBI by an Indians trio since 2007.
