Indians Beat Sox Again 6-3 Behind 10 K’s for Clevinger; Three Takeaways

2. A Wild Second

White Sox starter Carlos Rondon had a second inning to forget, allowing four Indians runs to cross and all of them coming with some crazy circumstances.

First he walked Edwin Encarancion in four pitches, and then plunked Brandon Guyer on the first pitch of the next at bat.

Yonder Alonso drew seven pitches before a single which scored EE, and then in six pitches Yan Gomes drew a walk to load the bases.

Jason Kipnis popped out to short in three pitches, and on the fourth pitch to Rajai Davis Rondon threw a wild pitch which allowed Guyer to score to make it 2-1.

Davis drew seven pitches before he lined out, but Francisco Lindor broke the game open with a three-pitch single to make it 4-1.

Michael Brantley then grounded to second in two pitches to end the crazy inning.

All in all, Rondon threw 37 pitches in the inning, and while the Indians have had their issues with him in the past, it was good to see them get a lead and keep it.
