It was quite a first half for Indians 3B José Ramírez, and after another huge week he was honored today as the American League Player of the Week for the week of July 9th.
Ramírez had monster week during the Tribe’s homestand, going 11-for-26 (.423) with five home runs and a 1.598 OPS. He is currently tied for the most home runs in MLB (29) and leads the league in extra-base hits (57).
Ramírez stole his 20th base of the season on Sunday, becoming just the second player in Indians franchise history to have 20 stolen bases and 20 home runs prior to the All-Star break.
This marks the third AL Player of the Week Award for Ramirez, who took home the honor twice last season for the weeks of June 18 and Sept. 3.
