In Love’s return against Bucks, Cavs don’t disappoint; three takeaways

1. Love’s return

Kevin Love played in his first game since January and based on his performance you would never know that if this was the first game you watched this season.

He finished the night with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. From deep, he went 4-for-9, and one highlight in the game was when he hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the second quarter to put the Cavs up, 58-51.

Afterwards, Love admitted that due to limited bodies and practice time, he hadn’t been able to play five-on-five before the game today, meaning he will need to find his rhythm in games and making his performance on Monday all the more impressive.

“I felt pretty good,” Love said afterwards. “Initially, that first wind is always tough, but even after that, I felt like my legs were underneath me and that I could’ve played a little bit more, even in the second blow. But a lot of guys stepped up and played quality minutes tonight.”

Overall, it was great to see Love provide the spacing on offense that is going to be necessary if the team makes a deep postseason run.

“It was just really good to have him back and being able to run some of the things we ran prior to him getting hurt,” interim head coach Larry Drew said. “He just opens up a lot, especially when he’s playing at the five against a center who is not used to playing on the perimeter. That’s where we keep him a lot and he responded really well tonight.”
