The Cavaliers backup point guard situation took another hit in the third quarter of Tuesday night’s opener, when Iman Shumpert left the game with concussion-like symptoms after a collision with New York Knicks power forward/center Kristaps Porzingis.
Head coach Tyronn Lue was uncertain of Shumpert’s status after the game, but the shooting guard tweeted two messages on Wednesday morning that indicates he is confident he’ll be ready to play on Friday night in Toronto.
Shumpert joked about the incident with Porzingis and appears to be in good spirits.

Shumpert was responding to someone who joked about his injury.
The Cavs are confident rookie Kay Felder will make his NBA debut on Friday night in Toronto and assume some of the minutes of the backup point guard role.
It’s not an ideal start to the season for a position that already was a big question mark, but the Cavs appear to have avoided serious injuries on both accounts.
If Shumpert and/or Felder are unable to return to action by Friday, DeAndre Liggins – the 15th man on the roster – would play backup point guard to Kyrie Irving.
Liggins played 12 minutes in his Cavaliers debut – his first NBA game since 2014 – and finished with four points, three assists, and three rebounds in the 117-88 win over the Knicks.
