Hue Jackson Ruining Whatever is Left of Browns Progress on Offense

Jackson can say that a guy like Cody Kessler gives the team a chance to win, and he might, but having your rookie quarterback getting sat again isn’t likely to install any sort of confidence in his growth moving forward.

Monday the Browns coach didn’t seem to worried about where Kizer’s head is at, but at the same time he is just assuming that him watching is going to make him better.

It’s not.

“My concern level is I truly believe DeShone is going to grow out of a lot of this,” Jackson said.

“I do, but that takes time and that takes work. He is working at it. I thought we all saw improvement from him in the first half up until the first turnover. He was doing some really good things and playing well. I said this a long time ago, the pressure of playing quarterback in the National Football League for 50 plays, 40 plays, first half or whatever that is is sometimes a big task for some men.

“Sometimes you are going to get some of this where things are not going as well until they come out of this. The unfortunate part for us is you don’t get to come out of it and win games this way. You have to work through it. This is sometimes a deal between DeShone and DeShone. He has to work through this and I think he is, just like I watched I watched how hard he worked last week to put himself in position to go out there and start the game and play early. He just has to make that next jump and take that next step. How fast can we get him there and how fast can he get himself there? I don’t know that at this time.”

Having him watch Kessler or Hogan isn’t going to get Kizer there any faster, and the Browns do what they normally do which is draft a quarterback in the first few rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft, than Kizer’s career might be over before it can really even get started.

The Browns offense is going nowhere fast, but Jackson continues to dig his own grave with this back and forth of shifting quarterbacks in and out, and sitting the player who long term brings the most promise to the quarterback spot – that being Kizer.
