The Open Door Patriots girls varsity basketball team won a road game on Monday in Oberlin to move to 4-5 on the year, as they topped the Phoenix by a final of 56-53.
The setback for the ladies from Oberlin puts them at 3-7 on the season, and they will look to get back on track Wednesday when they take on Columbia on the road.
The first quarter was evenly matched as Oberlin led after one 17-16, but then the Phoenix outscored Open Door 18-10 in the second quarter to lead the game 34-27 at the half.
Open Door came back with the big third quarter, as they won the quarter 17-7 to take a one-point lead 44-41 after three.
The final quarter saw each team score 12 points, allowing Open Door to sneak out the three-point win.
The Phoenix in the setback were led by Karissa Rankin with 12, with Casey Amato and Victoria Jackson each adding 10 points.
Open Door will play at Lawrence High School on Friday, January 11th at 6:30pm.

Matt, first the Open Door ladies are 5 & 4, next the Open Door ladies led by one after the first quarter 17 to 16 and then trailed by seven at the half (add up the two quarters). The Lady Patriots then led by three, not one after three. Are you the Oberlin beat reporter? There isn’t anything mentioned about the performance of thier junior guard Emily McClain who scored 28! Please do all these ladies justice by reporting fairly, accurately and evenly. They all deserve that much!!
