The Brooklyn Hurricanes opened their season with a tough loss to Fairport Harbor Thursday night 60-55. The Canes trailed early after the Skippers came out shooting above 80% in the first quarter. Brooklyn battled back to trail at halftime 39-31. A slow start in the third quarter led to a 16 point deficit halfway through the quarter.
However, the Canes battled back to get to a one possession game late in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, time was on the side of the Skippers as they held off a hard charging Brooklyn comeback.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes was freshman Tavion Jackson, scoring a game high 20 points. Senior Hunter Majewski knocked down 3 – 3 pointers in this first half on his way to scoring 12 points. Freshman Maceo Pytel added 7 points and junior Tristan Peggs added 6 points.
Special thanks to all the middle school players, cheerleaders, and Brooklyn fans in attendance for the game. The energy in the gym was electrifying and much appreciated! The Hurricanes return to action on their home court Tuesday night against Monroeville.
