2. Ngannou’s Coming- If you weren’t sure who Francis Ngannou was before tonight, you certainly do now.
The heavyweight contender nearly took Alistair Overeem’s head off with a left hook within the first two minutes of the opening round to make an absolute statement to the baddest man on the planet, Stipe Miocic. Ngannou had slowly been creeping in Miocic’s rearview mirror with impressive showing after another and it was only a matter of time until he made his way to the forefront. Ngannou has now racked up four-straight finishes inside the opening round of action, adding to his frightening demeanor. The new top contender is terrifying and a bad draw for anyone who stares across from him in the Octagon.
UFC Commissioner Dana White confirmed that Ngannou will meet Miocic and hopefully soon. Miocic is finishing his contract talks with the UFC and once a new deal is completed, the plans for the fight should move onward. An early date circled would be January 20th at UFC 220 located in Boston, Massachusetts. White and Ngannou are both adamant a fight get agreed upon as soon as possible. Will Miocic be ready by then?
