Hard Knocks: Training Camp With The Cleveland Browns Season Finale Awards

The final episode of HBO Hard Knocks with the Cleveland Browns aired tonight and it was by far the most emotional yet.  It featured the Browns final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, as well as the heartbreaking cuts that come with it.  While some players were on the bubble, there are always a few that stand out above the rest, and HBO wasted no time brining us those storylines.

Here are just a few of the RLN Home Healthcare takeaways from not only this past episode, but the entire season as a whole.

Best story line: The emergence of Jarvis Landry and Baker Mayfield as leaders on this team.  Landry leads by example and no one can deny that.  As for Baker, even as a backup this show proved the players like and respect him.  Mayfield has that “it” factor players need in a leader.  Taylor is tough, but Mayfield appears to be the future.

Easiest player to root for: It is impossible not to like Christian Kirksey.  The guy plays the game for the right reasons and his positive attitude is infectious.  Kirksey is a great player on the field, and a great teammate in the huddle.

Most obnoxious characters: I’m sorry, but who didn’t take a little pleasure in watching Mr. Cajuste find out his son didn’t make the team?  That may have been one of the best moments of the season.  Carl Nassib was obnoxious too.  Not exactly a heartbreaking moment watching these guys go.

Most heartbreaking moment: Watching Hue Jackson grieve over his mother and brother both dying.  Say what you want about his coaching, but he is a good human being and no one deserves to feel that kind of pain.

Realest moment of the season: Reality TV can be more scripted at times then cinematic drama.  However, there was no doubt in the genuine emotion Brogan Robacks girlfriend had watching him throw that touchdown pass.  It is just a shame that it came against fourth stringers, in front of 2500 people in a game that no one was still watching.

Best moment of the season: Watching Jarvis Landry give a speech to the wide receiving room on episode one.  It was impossible not to get pumped up listening to that.

Most lovable character: How could anyone not like Bob Wylie?  This guy was pure gold!  He may coach one of the worst units on the team, but he is impossible not to like. Everyone has an uncle just like Bob.

Coolest moment: Every time they showed local places that we all know and frequent. I’d even include NEWS Channel 5 on that note as well.  Things familiar to Clevelanders.  For those of us who don’t take ourselves so seriously, it is completely okay to feel proud of seeing your city on TV.

Most dramatic moment: While most focus on the nonsense of Mr. Cajuste and his son, the greatest bit of drama was when Tyrod Taylor got hurt during game three against Philadelphia.  Hearing the groans, then the in-depth detail of what really goes down when a player gets hurt mid game was incredible.

All in all, I’d give this season 4 out of 5 tackles.  The real thing begins this Sunday as the Browns welcome in their “rival”, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
