Eastlake – The Beloit Sky Carps took an early 4-0 lead over the Captains on Wednesday morning at Classic Park.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Guardians 18th ranked top prospect Milan Tolentino went yard as he took a 1-2 pitch over the right field fence to put the Captains on the scoreboard and make the score 4-1.
The Sky Carps, however, would immediately answer with an additional two runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead over the Captains.
But the Captains did not quit.
They added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
First, Guardians 25th ranked top prospect, center fielder Joe Lampe drove in Guardians 27th ranked prospect Dayan Frias to make the score 6-2.
Then, the Captains scored two more runs when Will Bartlett and Junior Sanquintin drew successive bases loaded walks to make the score 6-4.
The inning ended with the Captains almost getting a grand slam home run, but the ball was caught close to the outfield field fence by the Sky Carps outfielder for the final out of the bottom of the sixth.
The Sky Carps added two more runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-4 lead.
The Captains scored their final run of the game when Guardians 7th ranked prospect, Jake Fox, hit a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 8-5.
The Captains will take the field again on Thursday at Classic Park at 7pm when they host the Beloit Sky Carps for the third game of their six game homestand.
