Cleveland- The Guardians got the sweep on Thursday against the White Sox. After opening the season with a 9-game stretch on the road, the team returned to Cleveland for the home opener on Tuesday.
Brrr…
Temperatures were cold, it was rainy and even a little snow mixed in over the 3-game series. The Guardians offense warmed up a bit over the series, bringing the team to .500 for the first time this year. They were 3-6 on the season before returning home.
Nolan Jones drew the winning walk off former Cleveland pitcher, Mike Clevinger, to win game one of the series.

The players were glad to be home and in front of the fans at Progressive Field. It showed in the series sweep. Last season the Guards never spent a day at a game under .500. Things are going a little slower than last season but the message in the clubhouse is the same. Win games…have fun.
Speaking to Guardians skipper Stephen Vogt regarding his second season he had this to say, “The city and fans have embraced me and my family. I have memories now from last season to look upon.” He believes whole heartedly in the team and their talent.

The most notable changes to the lineup from last season are the addition of Carlos Santana and Nolan Jones. While fan favorites, Andres Gimenez, David Fry and Josh Naylor no longer don Guardians uniforms.
Bring out the brooms and sweep
It’s only April so any negativity is an overreaction. Last season was magical, and losses didn’t happen often…but it would be foolish to count this team out so early.
Cleveland welcomes Kansas City to town for a 3-game series on Friday. First pitch is at 6:10
