Akron – The RubberDucks scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as they defeated the Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees double A affiliate, 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The RubberDucks began the bottom of the fourth inning with four straight hits.
First, Guardians 13th ranked top prospect Juan Brito got on base with a single to right field.
Up next, Aaron Bracho singled to move Brito to third base.
Korey Holland followed with a single to drive in Brito from third base to give the RubberDucks a 1-0 lead.
The fourth batter of the inning, Bryce Ball, then hit an 0-2 pitch over the right field fence for a three run home run to put the RubberDucks up 4-0.
Still, with no outs in the bottom of the fourth, Micael Ramirez drew a base on balls.
After the next RubberDucks batter struck out, Guardians 12th ranked top prospect Petey Halpin hit a 0-1 pitch for a two run home run over the right field fence to give the RubberDucks a 6-0 lead.
The Patriots would get a run in the top of the 9th to make the final score, 6-1.
For the contest, the RubberDucks were led at the plate by Petey Halpin (2-4, home run, 2 RBI), Aaron Bracho (2-4), and Bryce Ball (1-2, home run, 3 RBI).
On the mound the RubberDucks got excellent pitching performances.
Leading the way on the mound for the RubberDucks was Guardians 18th ranked top prospect, Tanner Burns, who started and threw three innings of scoreless baseball.
Following Burns on the mound for the RubberDucks was Erik Sabrowski who threw a scoreless 4th inning to pick up the victory.
Ross Carver then pitched the next four innings giving up no runs, no hits, and striking out seven.
Trey Benton pitched the final inning for the RubberDucks.
