Guardians 7th Ranked Prospect Jake Fox Goes 4-for-4, Sky Carps Win in Extras

Eastlake – Guardians seventh ranked top prospect Jake Fox had himself a day on Sunday afternoon as he went 4-for-4 with a walk for the Lake County Captains.

The walk would be critical as Fox led off the bottom of the 9th drawing a base on balls with the Captains trailing 5-4.  

Fox took third when Guardians 5th ranked prospect Chase DeLauter doubled down the right field line.

Fox then scored to force extras when Guardians 27th ranked prospect Dayan Frias drove in the game-tying run with an RBI groundout.

The Sky Carps would then score two runs in the top of the tenth to make the final score 7-5.

For the contest, four Captains had multiple hit games including former University of Michigan Wolverine Joe Donovan (2-5, 2 RBI), Jake Fox (4-4, 1 RBI), Dayan Frias (2-4, 1 RBI), and Junior Sanquintin (3-5, 1 RBI).

Fox Hits .423 as Captains Win 4 out of 6 on Homestand

The Lake County Captains went 4-2 on the six game homestand against the Beloit Sky Carps to end the month of July.

Fox, the Lakeland Christian Vikings alum, had a great six game homestand against the Sky Carps as he was 11 for 26 (.423), with a triple, home run and 5 RBI. In addition, during the homestand, Fox drew three walks, stole a base and had a .483 on base percentage.

With his great performance at the plate, Fox now has a ten game hitting streak.

The Guardians 18th ranked prospect, shortstop Milan Tolentino, also had an excellent homestand at the plate as he hit .370 (10 for 27) in the six games against the Sky Carps. Four of Tolentino’s hits were for extra bases as he had two home runs and two doubles on the homestand.

Over the last month Tolentino has hit .354 (29 for 82) with three home runs,15 RBI and a .380 on base percentage. 

The Captains will now be on the road for six games as they travel to Grand Rapids to take on the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The Captains then return to Classic Park on August 8th to start a 12 game homestand.
