Another week, another overtime game for the Cleveland Gladiators as the hold off the Tampa Bay Storm in Amalie Arena for the 70-63 win. The Gladiators now sit at .500 as they improve their record to 4-4 and are riding a three game winning streak and move past the LA KISS to claim second place in the National Conference.
With five passing touchdowns and one rushing, QB Arvell has solidified his role as the teams starter with another stellar performance. He also threw for 259 yards . Collin Taylor and Quentin Simms have become quite the dynamic receiving duo in Thyron Lewis’ and Dominick Goodman’s absences. Taylor caught eight passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns while Sims caught a career-high 11 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Storm QB Jason Boltus passed for 351 yards for nine touchdown and two interceptions in the loss. One crucial interception made by Cleveland’s Marvin Ross cemented the win for the Gladiators.
Cleveland is making a push to get home field advantage and they’re making it at the right time. With LA losing this week, they now sit alone in second place, only behind Arizona. Next week, they take on Philadelphia on the road. Cleveland hasn’t won against Philly since 2014 and with the way Nelson is playing, he might give the team the edge they need keep this winning streak going and break the streak against the old rival Soul.
