Free Agent OF Matt Joyce Says He’s Joining the Indians

After announcing the signing of a pair of free agents Thursday, free agent outfielder Matthew Joyce tweeted out Friday morning that he’s signing with the Indians.

Joyce last season in 83 games with the Oakland A’s hit .207 with seven homers and 15 RBI with a .353 slugging percentage.

The native of Tampa, Florida has spent time in his career with the Tigers, Rays, Pirates, Angels and the A’s.

He made the AL All-Star team as a member of the Rays back in 2011, hitting that year .277 with 19 homers and 75 RBI.

Joyce has spent basically equal time over his 11-year MLB career playing in both right and left field, two positions the Indians will need to figure out in spring training in Goodyear.

Thursday the Tribe inked infielder Ryan Flaherty and cathcer Dioner Navarro to minor league deals with an invite to spring training.
