4. Cutting Joe Haden
The move to cut popular veteran cornerback Joe Haden on August 30th sent shockwaves through the Browns locker room, and not in a good way.
Haden was due to make $11.1 million this season, and looked for teams that might want him, but knowing that it was unlikely the Browns would keep him at that salary, teams that did have interest simply waited for the Browns to release him.
The move divided the team, and it could have been the starting point between the issues that existed between Brown and coach Hue Jackson, and it was reported that Jackson wanted to keep Haden.
The 28-year-old was still regarded as one of the better corners in the league despite injury issues the past few seasons, and the salt in the wound took place quickly after his release when the Browns rivals the Steelers inked Haden to a three-year deal worth $27 million.
Haden was having a very good season for the division leading Steelers when against the Colts he suffered a fractured fibula, and the Steelers hope he can be back in time for the end of the season and postseason run.
For the Browns, it was obviously a move to save money, but it left a lot of players in the locker room upset that the popular corner was gone from the team.
