Former Cleveland Indians manager Dave Garcia, who spent 65 years in professional baseball died recently in San Diego after a lengthy stay in managed care at the age of 97.
Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Dave Garcia at age 97. What a remarkable man. A true baseball lifer. Friend to all. Taught me so much. He would post a .503 winning % over four seasons (‘79-‘82) as Tribe Manager. Here with Rick Manning in dugout talking ball. pic.twitter.com/KXOr1G87GY

Garcia was the manager of the Tribe from 1979-82, going 247-244 in his years with the Tribe in Cleveland, never wrapping up a season better than fifth place in the American League East.
He became the manager of the Indians on July 22, 1979 after Jeff Torborg was fired.
