NBA champion player and coach, and former Cleveland Cavalier, Steve Kerr is currently coaching the USA Men’s national basketball team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup which is taking place in Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines.
Kerr began his career with Phoenix after being drafted in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft out of the University of Arizona.
After playing only 26 games with Phoenix, Kerr played four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he averaged over 47% on three pointers.
In fact, Kerr has the all-time best three point percentage in the history of the NBA.
To put that into perspective, Stephen Curry, arguably one of the best offensive players ever in the history of the NBA, has a 42.8% career average from three point range throughout his NBA career.
After leaving Cleveland, Kerr went on to win 5 NBA championships as a player and 4 NBA Championships as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors.
Currently, Kerr is coaching the USA national basketball team who will be playing for a spot on the podium.
Team USA narrowly missed a chance at playing for the World Cup Championship as they were defeated 113-111 on Friday by Germany.

“Congrats to Germany, they were fantastic,” said Kerr. “They deserved the win. Every time we made a run, they hit a big shot, or got an offensive board or made a big play. So they did what they had to do. I’m really proud of our guys. They were courageous throughout the game and fought and gave themselves a chance, and we just couldn’t quite get there.”
Andreas Obst led Germany in their victory as he scored 24 points.

Obst plays for Bayern in the Euroleague.
Also, leading Germany in their semifinal victory was NBA player Franz Wagner (Orlando Magic) who had 22 points.
Daniel Theis (Indiana Pacers) also scored 21 points for Germany.
Kerr will have the opportunity to coach Team USA in one more game in the 2023 FIBA World Cup as the USA will play Canada at 4:30 EST on Sunday morning for third place.

Later that day, Germany will play Serbia for the 2023 FIBA World Cup Championship.
