Former Cavs Coach David Blatt Says ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is “Clueless at Basketball”

You won’t see former Cavaliers coach David Blatt and ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith sharing Christmas cards anytime soon.

The former Cavs coach today called out Smith on a Calcalist’s Forecast 2019 conference in Tel Aviv, as he’s now the head coach of the Greek Euroleague team Olympiacos.

Blatt, who helped the Cavs reach the NBA Finals in LeBron James‘ first season back with the Cavs, threw out an interesting comment about Dallas Mavericks star rookie Luka Doncic, including Smith in his narrative.

took a shot at ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith today, while speaking at the Calcalist’s Forecast 2019 conference in Tel Aviv.

“I told everyone he was the best player in the draft. Stephen A. Smith is clueless at basketball,” Blatt said. “(Dončić) is hands down the best player in the draft.”

Smith has at times been somewhat critical of Doncic, instead favoring 2018 first draft pick DeAndre Ayton.

Right now Doncic is the better NBA player, as he’s putting up 19.6 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds and five assists per contest.

Ayton, a center with the Phoenix Suns, is putting up 17 points per game with 10.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

As of now, Smith has yet to fire back at the former Cavs coach.
