The 2013 WWE Summerslam kicked off the official beginning to the Daniel Bryan yes movement.
The crowd was behind him strongly in the main event as he took the WWE title away from John Cena in a thrilling title match. It looked as though his years of hardwork and struggle had finally paid off when he hoisted up the WWE Championship Belt, but the party would end early. Special guest ref HHH kicked Bryan in the gut, pedigreed him and it allowed Randy Orton to come down and cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase to secure the title.
The fans were furious and decided to revolt against the average run of the mill storylines WWE was trying to push down their fans throats at the time. The WWE creative team would finally listen months later, and Bryan would go on to reclaim his Gold at WrestleMania 30 from the New Orleans Superdome.
Elsewhere on the card, Rob Van Dam (with Big Show and Mark Henry) defeated Dean Ambrose (c) (with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) by disqualification in a match contested for the United States Championship.
In a match that was the coming out party for Bray Wyatt and his family, Bray Wyatt (with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) defeated Kane in a Ring of Fire inferno style match. It was surreal and truly proved Wyatt was headed for big things.
In what was easily the best match of the night, it was two men who had lost at WrestleMania 29, looking to bounce back in a big way, but only one would as Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) defeated CM Punk in a no DQ match. For Lesnar, with the sole exception of his loss in 03 to Angle, he continued to prove to be dominant at Summerslam.
It truly was a great card and kept the ball rolling after a very strong summer!
