3) Mayfield continues to progress
For the second straight week, Baker Mayfield handled the second-team offensive duties. The rookie wasn’t quite as dazzling as his preseason debut where he completed 11 passes for 212 yards and dropped a beautiful touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku, but he protected the football and had 75 yards passing. He faced much more pressure in this one than he did in the Browns first game. The highlight of his night was a back-shoulder fade pass to Derrick Willies for a touchdown from the one-yard line early int he fourth quarter, but that wound up being ruled incomplete after review. It was so nice though it’s worth watching regardless…
Baker Mayfield touchdown pass on the fade. Feels like the fade is a lost art. Good catch, could have been called a push off. pic.twitter.com/ln3E1vQNrc
