Lorain – Clearview senior running back, Ethan Lorenzana, scored 4 touchdowns to lead the Clippers over the Berkshire Badgers 33-12 on Friday night at Lorain’s Tom Hoch Field.
“All credit goes to Berkshire,” said Clearview Head Coach Mike Collier. “That first half they gave us all we wanted and more. They did a really good job of just ball control offense. They kept it away from us and our kids kept fighting. In the second half, we stuck together and found a way to get it done.”
As Coach Collier mentioned, the first half was very close, as was the third quarter. However, Clearview pulled away in the fourth quarter.
Berkshire scored first with 5:49 left in the opening quarter when senior quarterback Miles Miller scored on a 6-yard touchdown run with 5:49 left in the opening quarter.
The Badgers then led 6-0 until Ethan Lorenzana scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with less than thirty seconds in the half to give Clearview a 7-6 lead heading into halftime.
After halftime, Berkshire took a 12-7 lead on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Miles Miller to Jack Hastings with 8:52 left in the third quarter.
Clearview then scored with 4:05 remaining in the third quarter to take a 14-12 lead on a 23-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Cy Christensen to senior wide receiver Malcolm Lane.
Leading 14-12 at the start of the fourth quarter, Clearview scored 19 points on three touchdown runs by Ethan Lorenzana in the final quarter to seal the playoff victory.
After the game, Lorenzana talked about the playoff victory and scoring four touchdowns.

“We started off slow, it wasn’t our best first half,” said Lorenzana. “But we went into the locker room, we knew what we had to change. Our line dominated up front (after halftime), and won the battle.”
With the victory, Clearview moves to 9-2 on the season and will face Norwayne in round 2 of the OHSAA playoffs on Friday, November 3rd.
