Elyria Catholic falls to Brooklyn 5-2 in GCHSHL action

ELYRIA, Ohio – The Brooklyn Hurricanes (5-0-0) travel to the Elyria North Rec to battle against the Elyria Catholic Panthers (2-6-0) in a blue division matchup in the GCHSHL.

In Brooklyn’s last game they defeated Lakewood 4-2 on January 5 and Elyria Catholic also won their last game, beating Garfield Heights 11-1 on January 14.

Brooklyn dominated the first period, scoring five goals. Two from Aiden Supek, one each by Matt Crossman, Aaron Workman, and Nate Coyle, to give them a 5-0 lead after the first period.

Brooklyn outshot Elyria Catholic 17-4 in the first period.

In the second period, Brooklyn controlled the puck, much like in the first period. However, EC’s Drew Beck was able to put the Panthers on the scoreboard at the end of the period. Brooklyn outshot EC 15-4.

After the second period EC trails Brooklyn 5-1, heading into the third period.

In the third period, EC’s Kyle Horvath managed to cut into the Hurricanes lead, but that’s as close as they would get. Brooklyn outshot EC 18-2 in the period.

Brooklyn defeats Elyria Catholic 5-2, improving to 6-0-0 on the season and the Panthers drop to 2-7-0. Brooklyn’s goalie, Beau Reinhart made 10 saves and EC’s goalie, Kevin Hahn made 45 saves.
