AMHERST, OHIO – The Midview Middies came into the Amherst Steele Comets house putting their undefeated record on the line with plans to prove they belong with the best of the best.
The Middies led by quarterback Dustin Crum got on the board first with a Alec Forrer rushing touch down.
Midview’s second drive of the game would be brought to a halt by a fumbled pitch which would be recovered by Steele in the Midview redzone.
The Middies would lead the game 7-0 going into the second quarter.
As for the second quarter, Crum would connect several times with wide out Keith Johnson on multiple drives that would end with a Crum rushing touch down.
In fact, it happened twice.
Crum would cap off two drives with rushing touchdowns. Steele would only manage to gain 3 points in the first half thanks to a Ryan Sturgeon 22-yard attempt put through the uprights. Score at half time would be Midview 21-3.
The Comets came out hot after half time capping off their first drive of the half with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Matakovich to Kenedy Scagliozzo.
Midview would still hold a 21-9 lead after the score.
But the Middies would answer right back with the powerful running combo of Crum and Forrer with a rushing touchdown from Forrer and put Midvew back up by 18.
The defense also showed up for the Middies forcing a fumble in the 3rd quarter, which would lead to a beautiful 24-yard touchdown pass from Crum to Johnson.
Just when they have you beat on the ground, they beat you down even more through the air. The quarter would end with a score of Midview 34-9.
In the fourth quarter, Steele would not go down without a fight, they would force a turnover on down backup to their own goal line and lead a drive down the entire length of the field for a touchdown from Jeremy Smith.
The Comets would go for two but fail to convert. The final score of the game the game Midview 34-15.
The Midview Middies have a very special team this year lead by Crum. With his dynamic passing and running abilities along side play-makers like Johnson and Forrer, they could be classified as unstoppable.
Next week for both teams; the Middies are at home against Avon and the Comets take on Berea-Midpark at home.
