Donovan Moorhead, Jordan Johnson, and Charlie Mallett Lead Hawken Hawks to a 47-13 Victory Over Orange Lions

Donovan Moorhead threw for three touchdowns and Jordan Johnson had three rushing touchdowns and also returned a punt for a touchdown as Hawken defeated Orange 47-13 on Friday night.

For the game, Donovan Moorhead had an incredible 143.5 quarterback rating as he was 15-20 passing for 189 yards, with three touchdown passes.

Moorhead threw two touchdown passes to freshman standout and three sport athlete Charlie Mallett. For the game, Mallett caught six passes for 65 yards (10.8 yard average).

 

 

Moorhead also connected with senior captain and three sport athlete Lucas Brandt for his third touchdown pass.

After the game in the post-game interview, Hawken head coach Mark Iammarino talked about the play of sophomore quarterback Donovan Moorhead.  

“Donovan has gotten better each and every game. He is taking care of the ball, he’s running the offense. This is a couple games in a row now, no big negative plays,” Iammarino said. “And he has struck up a relationship with Charlie, the two of those guys, it’s going to be dangerous in the years to come.”

Hawken’s additional four touchdowns were scored by Jordan Johnson. 

For the game, Johnson carried the ball 11 times for 101 yards (9.2 yard average). Johnson also had a 48-yard reception.

Orange scored two touchdowns, one touchdown in the first half and one touchdown in the second half. 

 

Orange’s second touchdown was set up by an amazing catch by Elyshah Robinson.

Hawken will next face Chagrin Falls in a week nine matchup.

Orange will play Lutheran West on Friday.
