The Cavs are not 24 hours removed from their championship parade, and already there’s rumors about one of their bench players possibly moving to play elsewhere next season.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst states that backup point guard Matthew Dellavedova is being targeted by Central rival Detroit, a team that Cavs swept in the first round of the playoffs.
Windhorst gave some comments on Zach Lowe’s The Lowe Post podcast about Detroit being a team in the mix for Dellavedova, who this past season played in 76 regular season games, putting up 7.4 points per game and 4.4 assists per game.
“The Detroit Pistons were hanging around in the playoffs a lot, sending scouts. They weren’t sending scouts to evaluate J.R. [Smith], I don’t think. I think they’re intending to go after Dellavedova.”
The Cavs can match any offer on Dellavedova this offseason, as he’s a restricted free agent. It will be interesting to see what type of money he can command and how far the Cavs will go to keep him in Cleveland.
