CLEVELAND — It’s been a week since former Dallas Cowboys’ star receiver Dez Bryant visited the Cleveland Browns.
The 29-year-old made a free agent stop in Berea last Friday and left without finalizing a contract with the franchise
That’s not for lack of trying on the Browns part. As even Bryant himself admitted via his Instagram, there is an offer on the table from the Browns.
Now, some details of said offer have been released. According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the contract Bryant is mulling over includes a base salary of less than $5 million.
Throughout the offseason, Bryant’s desire to play for a contender have been well documented. Whether or not Bryant views the Browns — who are coming off an forgettable 0-16 season — in that light is unknown. Ultimately, the ball appears to be in the three time Pro Bowler’s court though to accept or decline the Browns offer. For now at least he seems content waiting things out.
In the meantime as Cleveland waits for an answer, they are in much better shape than they were a week ago with embattled wide receiver Josh Gordon announcing his return to the team last weekend. Regardless, the Browns haven’t withdrawn their offer to Bryant and still remain very interested in acquiring his services. The addition of Bryant would certainly make out the Browns receiving room at or near the top of the league.
