Deshaun Watson Out for the Season

Browns Qb Deshaun Watson had undergone an MRI on his shoulder which revealed that he has a fractured bone that requires season ending surgery. This is a massive loss for the Browns in the midst of their dream season. With a Super Bowl caliber defense and an offense beginning to heat up things were looking right.

This injury may derail the season but there is a bright side in this. Rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will make his second career start this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While DTR had his welcome to the league moment against the Ravens in week 4 of the season, he did not have a game plan tailored to him as he learned he was getting the start 2 hours before the game. With preparation for Sunday’s matchup DTR has the opportunity to show up and out for the Cleveland Browns.

Anything is possible with this Browns Defense. They play through the whistle and don’t quit no matter what the score is. If DTR can put up some decent numbers, we could still see the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs without the help of Nick Chubb or Deshaun Watson. All of the injuries sustained to the O-Line this season would make people think that the Browns are struggling with their blocking schemes but actually it is the exact opposite. Cleveland’s O-Line is ranked as the third best in the league currently so that should help the Rookie out.

Andrew Berry did say in the press conference this morning that the Browns are looking to add another QB to the roster as they like to carry 3 QBs so we could see the addition of a seasoned vet in the locker room who will either make starts or help the younger guys out and help coach them up. Two of the most likely names would be Nick Foles and Joe Flacco who are arguably the best free agent QB’s currently.
