ESPN Cavaliers reporter Dave McMenamin caught up with owner Dan Gilbert on Sunday evening to find out his thoughts on the state of the team.
Cavs owner Dan Gilbert to ESPN when asked about the crazy week that was for his team: "It's January. … That's my answer. It's January."

The Cavs have a history of midseason slumps since LeBron James returned in 2014 and that could be part of what led to Gilbert’s answer.
Despite LeBron’s recent comments, which were perceived as criticism of the front office and ownership, the Cavs have bounced back with two big wins in their last two games.
The newest issue is that of Kevin Love’s back, but the team is also pursuing a backup point guard or third playmaker to relieve James and Kyrie Irving.
If the Cavs win a second consecutive title, not many will remember this slump and compared to a year ago, it’s relatively insignificant.
The Cavs fired their coach in January of 2016 and went on to win the title.
However, if the Cavs don’t repeat, some of these issues, like perceived tension between James and management, could be brought up again down the road.
