CSU Unable To Close Against Oakland, 53-51

Today CSU took on league rival Oakland for a second time this season,

and came away with the opposite outcome from the last time these two

teams played where the Vikings were victorious.

Even with another good performance from senior leader Demonte

Flannigan with 16 points and 9 rebounds going 8-14 from the field, but

Oakland’s defense in the final 10 seconds to hold off Cleveland State was

enough to seal a victory for Oakland by a final score of 53-51. Flannigan

also had 3 steals.

CSU is now 7-17 overall and 3-9 in the Horizon League while Oakland

moved to 18-7 overall 8-4 in league play.

Kasheem Thomas finished with 13 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Rob Edwards scored only 8 points with 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Derek Sloan contributed 4 rebounds and Anthony Wright had 5

rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal.

It’s the same old story for the Vikings, they play well enough to stay in

the games, but are unable to finish and close out games down the

stretch.

Next up for CSU is an away game against Valporaso for an 8 PM ET tip-

off on Thursday, February 9 th . Go Vikings!
